21 Jahre hat der Kajakweltrekord auf dem Rhein bestanden. Im Sommer 2010 hielt während einer Woche die ganze Schweiz den Atem an. Der Winterthurer Extrempaddler Corrado Filipponi stellte auf dem Rhein einen sagenhaften neuen Weltrekord auf: 7 Tage - 10 Stunden - 16 Minuten. Seine neue Zeit und die Leistung fanden ein Echo in ganz Europa. Kaum zu glauben, dass Filipponi 8 Jahre zuvor im Mississippi zum ersten Mal in ein Kajak gesessen ist.

Karlsruhe, Utrecht, Wiesbaden, Strassburg und Krefeld haben über 200’000 Einwohner. Basel ist die grösste Schweizer Stadt am Rhein.
